My Antigua Story

Maggie, my Antiguan beauty and her family
I was finishing graduate school in cold New England. Mom invited to take me to the Caribbean for a pre graduation gift. I looked at Aruba, St. Kitts and Antigua. Aruba had a Wendy’s so no to that. St. Kitts’s beaches didn’t catch my eye so I chose Antigua. We stayed at Antigua Village. Our first night we listened to Roland Prince play at Buccaneer Cove. I was in heaven. The day I left, there were tears in my eyes. I had fallen in love with the island and it’s people. I finished grad school and went back 2 more times before moving permanently, leaving it all behind. I had several jobs in the food and beverage industry working at The Dolphin and Jean Micheles. I worked on revitalization effort for the YMCA and worked on the later ill fated S.V. Windjammer. I married an Antiguan, had a lovely baby (who is now 17) and started Antigua Small Properties. Later I moved back to the US to pursue a career as a counselor. I kept my little travel business that grew to Caribbean Wind & Sun Vacations. Now, 23 years later I can say, I have sent thousands of happy tourists to Antigua over those years. I now divide my time between Cape Cod and Bonaire, my other island home but still return to Antigua several times a year to see family and to come “home”. Welcome to my world.
