Security News from Delta Airlines

January 3, 2010

Advisory: Passengers may notice additional screening measures put into place to ensure the safety of the traveling public. Due to these additional measures and increased holiday travel, please arrive early for your flights.

For customers who are traveling from a non US location to the US, please arrive at the airport 3 hours in advance due to the new International Security measures.

Check tsa.gov for the latest updates.

Until further notice, the Canadian Air Transportation Security Authority (CATSA) has disallowed carry-on bags for those passengers originating in Canada and traveling to the United States. Passengers will still be allowed one personal item, such as a purse or briefcase, to carry onboard the aircraft. For details, please see the CATSA Web site.

This measure supersedes Delta’s carry-on baggage policy, and customers will be charged the applicable checked bag fees for any baggage checked during this time.

Vehicles Covered by the Plan
The Plan covers most vehicles typically available from a Rental Company, from smaller economy sizes to large luxury sedans, convertibles, exotic cars (worth more than $50,000), minivans, vans, pickup trucks, and full-sized SUVs. The vehicle must be rented from a Rental Company, which is a commercial rental agency that rents passenger-type motor vehicles, but it does not include a company whose primary business is something other than renting cars, such as an auto body shop or a moving van company. Excluded vehicles include: automobiles that have been customized or modified from the manufacturer’s factory specifications, except for driver’s assistance equipment for the physically challenged; any rented vehicle used for hire or commercial purposes; antique cars (cars over 20 years old or cars that have not been manufactured for over 10 years); limousines; and off-road vehicles, motorcycles, motorbikes, mopeds, recreational vehicles, golf or motorized carts, campers, moving trucks or moving vans, and trailers.

Swine Flu and Travel

April 28, 2009

I am a licensed agent for Travel Guard Insurance. Due to the recent outbreak of swine flu I am again strongly recommending Cancel for Any Reason Protect Assist Trip Insurance. Purchase within 15 days of your first payment for the best coverage. There is no reported Swine Flu in Antigua. I have seen many clients lose significant money when they would not have had they purchased trip insurance. Most clients save all year for their two weeks in paradise. Surely the investment is worth the added protection of trip insurance. Hurricane season commences in June. If you are headed to the Caribbean it is even more prudent to be covered. Email me at ann@bonairecaribbean.com for details.

Cheap Air

February 3, 2009

As a travel agent I have learned the most current ways to scour the internet for the best possible dealsĀ  for my clients. I no longer handle ticketing but do steer my clients in several directions to assist them in finding air to Antigua.

My favorite search engine is www.yapta.com. You may download the software free and enter in your flights for as many trips as needed. Yapta will automatically notify you if the fare drops. I have see AA flights fluctuate hundreds of dollars in one day. Yapta has saved my clients and I thousands of dollars.

Kayak is a great site. You have to know how to fine tune your searches but their daily or weekly email alerts are great. I was just notified of a great fare of 491.00 USD from Boston to Antigua early March.

It pays to know your search engines and to use them. I recommend Kayak and Yapta for my Caribbean bound clients.
